Registration Open For Podcasting Event

In exactly a month from now, PodWorks, India’s biggest podcasting event would be underway. It takes place at Chennai on June 9th & 10th. The event’s website www.PodWorks.in is now online.

Registration for the event is now open. As with all the events we have conducted, this one will surely be a sell out. So, play safe and register early.

PodWorks will attract the best minds in podcasting and new media. It will be a great opportunity to network, share and learn new ideas & techniques.

PodWorks will have a strong workshop tilt. Hence the name (Podcasting Workshop) . The event will continue to follow the successful unconference model, but presenters are encouraged to demonstrate and not just talk. More of show’n’tell and less of powerpoint.

Last Sunday, the first organizers meet was held at IIT Madras and a surprisingly high number of volunteers turned up. 34 people. We have never had so many folks turn up for a first meeting. Not for BarCamp. Not for BlogCamp. Not for Proto. Not for MoMo. That’s an encouraging start and PodWorks might well one of the best events. Check out more photos on Chinmayi’s blog.

There’s a strong emphasis on good content. And honestly, good content is hard to come by for podcasting. Afterall, there’s less than a dozen known podcasters in India. The challenge will be to invite some of the best minds to conduct workshop and that’s the #1 focus of the organizing team. Just take a look at the list of topics. Thankfully, we have some of the best media professionals from TV & Radio and many have shown an enthusiastic response.

We’ve had good support. Two sponsors already signed up. Yahoo! India will be the ‘Online Sponsor’ and IndiaInteracts.com will be the ‘Video Sponsor’. More sponsorship slots open and its just a matter of time before they fill up.

It’s going to be a good event. The two days of sessions will be live webcast and all the sessions will be recorded. Hey, this is a podcasting event, right?! It would be a good idea for you to sign up to the mailing list http://groups.yahoo.com/group/podworks and subscribe to the blog feed. These are good ways to get updated on the event’s progress.
