Its a new challenge I love. I’m taking charge as editor of BlogNation India. The pre-beta version of the site launched today.
BlogNation is a global network of country specific blogs that focus on technology news. The aim is to become a site of choice that technology-enthusiasts, bloggers, early adopters, fellow entrepreneurs and investors visit to find daily updates on Web 2.0 technology, mobile and enterprise news.
BlogNation India is the 8th country to launch. The other country sites already launched are Belgium, Germany, Italy, Ireland, UK, Cananda and USA. In the next few months, there will be more sites from Spain, Portugal, Denmark, France, Israel, Japan, China, Australia, Brazil, Russia and South Africa.
It’s an ambitious project started by Sam Sethi, who was earlier the editor of TechCrunch UK. I love his ‘Go Big or Go Home’ attitude. I’ve gotten to know Sam over the past month and he’s a great guy to work with.
I will be writing about the newest start-ups, launches of the latest products, indept-analysis of the features, interviews, serial posts, live event coverage, occasional podcasts and top management moves in India. Yup, the standard coverage of the big tech companies will also be there.
As part of the launch, we are offering one month of free advertising to startups. If you run a startup, all you need to do is send your banners. If you know someone, please pass the word. No strings attached. Write to me at Kiruba[@]Kiruba.com.
Over the last week, I’ve been warming up by posting news on the site. I had my initial apprehension but the first week has been enjoyable. Now that the site is online, there’s bound to be a bit of pressure in breaking news. News is never an easy business. The next few weeks should be interesting.
This new role of being an editor will be in addition to what I’ve been doing so far. I will continue to consult at F5ive tech, a company that I co-founded, teach at universities, host ‘The Kiruba Show‘, and closely associate with The Knowledge Foundation activities.
